Glowing, fresh skin: How to get your skin garden party ready
Spring weather is well and truly here (we hope that we haven’t just jinxed it) and we’re so ready to enjoy the sun. Because we’re still facing some lock-down restrictions, it’s unlikely that we’ll be sunning ourselves on the Amalfi Coast any time soon. But we can still enjoy the fine weather with plenty of garden parties and BBQs. But first, let’s get our fresh skin glow to match this beautiful weather!
Spring clean your skin with our 3 beauty tips
When we think of spring skin, we think of fresh skin - moisturised and glowing. Springtime, for us, means a lighter, more natural look and that usually means less makeup.
Let’s face it, no one likes the feeling of a sticky, melting foundation in 25-degree heat. So let’s take a look at our top tips to spring clean your skin.
Hydrate, hydrate, and then hydrate some more
How to get glowing skin naturally? It’s all about hydration. Dehydrated skin can often look dull and tired. Not to mention lack of hydration can often accentuate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Opting for a high-quality moisturiser can help you bring your skin back to life, just in time for springtime.
If you’re not ready to completely ditch the foundation, why not swap it for a lighter option? Don't worry, you don’t need to run out and buy a new BB cream.
You can simply add a couple of drops of your foundation to your favourite Poko moisturiser. This will give just enough coverage to blur the skin slightly, whilst getting all the nourishment from your moisturiser. We've got a more in-depth post about this technique here.
Get the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed look
We’re more than ready for springtime, and we want glowing, fresh skin to match the season. To do this, sometimes we have to give the delicate skin around our eyes a little extra TLC. That’s where our Correcting Eye Cream comes in.
Specially formulated for use around the eyes, this cream is lightweight and packed with nourishing natural ingredients. We’ve also included hyaluronic acid to really lock in the moisture.
Using a nourishing eye cream helps to keep this delicate skin healthy and nourished, meaning we look alert and refreshed. It also creates a wonderful base for under-eye concealer. The cream creates a smooth base that helps to prevent the concealer from sinking into fine lines.
For a flawless application, we recommend mixing a small amount of concealer with our Correcting Eye Cream if you need a little extra coverage for more stubborn dark circles. You’ll look well-rested with fresh skin in no time.
Use a Soothing Serum for fresh skin
Real skin has texture and many of us have dry, sensitive or acne-prone skin. Of course, you don’t need to have air-brushed, flawless skin to have fresh skin ready for summer. But, if you want to calm stressed skin and reduce redness, we couldn’t recommend our Soothing Serum more.
This product was created with sensitive skin in mind. It is packed with vitamins, minerals and proteins to help promote the production of new, healthy skin cells. It is also packed with aloe vera to gently moisturise the skin, without clogging the pores.
Keeping skin moisturised is key to balancing sebum levels, and therefore preventing future breakouts. The serum also contains tea tree oil which helps soothe irritated skin and fight spot-causing bacteria.
Opting for a soothing serum like this nourishes the skin and helps it to heal from breakouts, whilst reducing swelling and redness. Additionally, it helps to prevent future breakouts and reduce the appearance of scarring.
Bonus tips for getting that fresh skin glow
As we said, everyone has textured skin, but using an exfoliator can help you achieve an overall smoother texture. Chemical exfoliators are a wonderful way to clear away dead, dull skin cells to make way for glowing, fresh skin.
Chemical exfoliators like AHA and BHA facial treatments clean to reduce congestion in the skin, preventing breakouts and blackheads. AHA and BHA treatments are a gentle way of reducing pigmentation like scarring and can help to even skin tone too.
Incorporating retinol into your skincare routine is another wonderful way to boost your fresh skin glow. Retinol is an antioxidant that can be used a couple of times a week to increase cell turnover. This means that it boosts cell production and brightens the skin.
Retinol can also boost collagen production which reduces the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores and makes your skin look and feel plump and healthy.
In conclusion
The secret to springtime fresh skin is to make sure your skin is healthy. Incorporating natural skincare products that nourish and care for the skin will give you glowing skin that is sure to turn heads at any garden party that you attend this spring. And don't forget your SPF!
